It can be a huge knock to your confidence to discover those tell-tale signs of ageing in your skin – especially if you look and feel young. From lines and wrinkles, to sagging and loss of structure, there are lots of areas you can target to help restore that youthful appearance.

Here at our Inverness skin clinic, we carry out a range of facial aesthetics treatments designed to get your skin back on track. In this post, we’ll talk about two in particular which can work together to give you skin that feels smooth and sculpted, helping you go from self-conscious to self-confident.

Botox

Botox goes by many names, including ‘wrinkle reduction’ and ‘wrinkle relaxers’, and these give a clue to how the treatment works on skin. Anyone considering Botox will be invited to a consultation to assess whether it’s the right treatment option, as it’s considered a prescription medicine and, rightly so, is regulated.

Botox mainly works on the upper areas of the face, targeting the lines around the eyes, between the brows and across the forehead. It blocks signals from nerve to muscle, which gives your appearance a rested look. Some clients can be concerned that the treatment will leave them unable to move their face or looking frozen, but that’s where our expertise and training comes in – we favour a natural look that will leave you able to show a range of expressions, while helping give lines and wrinkles a softer appearance.

Results develop over a couple of weeks and last 3-4 months, and the procedure can sometimes be carried out in a little over ten minutes.

Dermal fillers

We are passionate about dermal fillers here at our Inverness skin clinic. These injectables work in an entirely different way to Botox, but can target and treat areas that Botox wouldn’t be advisable for. We also ask our clients to attend a consultation when considering dermal fillers, to ensure it’s the right choice.

With hydrating hyaluronic acid as the main ingredient in dermal fillers, you can expect skin to take on a plumper appearance, so it’s ideal for creating volume in areas such as thin lips or hollow cheeks. It’s also used for filling in those deeper lines and wrinkles, especially around the mouth and nose, and can refine humps and bumps in the nose too, making it a great non-surgical option.

Results can appear instantly and last up to 15 months, however treatment itself can take up to an hour.
